There are many stories about love, friends, and family. However, one has fascinated viewers; the story of La Reina Del Sur (The Queen of the South). Taken from Spanish Telenovela Una Hora Se Prepara (An Hour to Get Ready), this story is set in Miami where Teresa Mendoza makes her living running a strip club only to be accused by drug lords for using them for their own purposes. After being sentenced to prison, she becomes involved in criminal activities including smuggling drugs while escaping jail time. She finally escapes prison but is captured again by her enemies while trying to flee the country with money and weapons hidden around her body. The first episode begins on a beach were we see Teresa and her son, Fransesca. The two are enjoying the time they have on the beach and seem to be very happy together. The next day, we see Teresa sitting at the bar. She orders some shots for her and her friends including Carlita and Jorge. Carlita tells Teresa that she is going to move out of the house and asks her what happens with the house. To this question, Teresa replies that she has no idea since they still cannot obtain a mortgage nor obtain a good lawyer to obtain one because of all the trouble she had brought to the family. To their surprise, Lucy transforms into a very beautiful woman and she begins to seduce the clientele. After the performance, she tells the girls that if they want to dance badly enough they can dance in her place since there is no way that she will ever let them in her house again. She then returns to her home where she receives a phone call from Teresa who tells her that there is a problem at work since they are closing the club.
